A VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Honor Guard provides military honors for deceased veterans at funerals and memorial services, which typically includes a three-volley rifle salute, the sounding of Taps, and the ceremonial folding and presentation of the American flag. These volunteer groups also participate in parades, ceremonies, and community events to honor service members and their families. The VFW, along with its auxiliaries and other veteran organizations, is authorized by the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs to conduct these services.
