Buddy Poppies

The VFW Buddy Poppy program began in 1922 as the first nationwide poppy distribution to honor fallen service members. Adopted as the official memorial flower of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Buddy Poppies are assembled by disabled and needy veterans, providing them with financial assistance while supporting vital VFW programs and the VFW National Home. Trademarked in 1924, the Buddy Poppy remains a symbol of remembrance and aid. Show your support by hosting a Buddy Poppy drive or encouraging your local government to issue a proclamation.

Veteran Outreach

Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.

Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.


There is a new cartoon everyday.
